Workforce Optimization Technology Enables Nursing Staff At Six Hospital System To Access Open Shifts
BidShift Adds Abrazo Health Care Of Phoenix To Growing List Of Healthcare Industry Clients; Workforce Optimization Technology Enables Nursing Staff At Six Hospital System To Access Open Shifts, Request to Work via the Internet
San Diego - BidShift, Inc., a provider of web-based staffing effectiveness technology and services for healthcare providers, has implemented its online flexible workforce optimization technology at Abrazo Health Care, a six hospital health system located in Phoenix, Arizona.
BidShift's online scheduling and shift bidding technology provides improved visibility into nursing staff schedule vacancies and allows Abrazo nursing staff to bid on open shifts for which they qualify. Abrazo's six hospitals, which include Arrowhead Hospital, Maryvale Hospital, Paradise Valley Hospital, Phoenix Baptist Hospital, Phoenix Memorial Hospital, and West Valley Hospital, launched the system simultaneously, and are the first in the Phoenix Valley to utilize this progressive technology.
The hosted application technology platform provides Abrazo Health Care with a consistent way to administer their shift incentive program, and offers a cost-effective and streamlined approach for automating shift scheduling, while dramatically improving the ease of communication between management and staff.
By using BidShift, qualified nursing staff can easily access all open shifts and bid for certain shifts at an additional hourly incentive that they set, within established parameters. "We are delighted to begin using the BidShift program," said Trish Sorensen, Abrazo Health Care Vice President of Resource Management. "Our nurses will be able to work additional shifts and fill in where our hospitals need them most. We are confident this new staffing program will increase nursing job satisfaction and decrease staffing vacancies during our most busy times throughout the year."
Use of the technology will give nursing staff more choice and flexibility over the shifts they work. Using the Internet, staff will be able to conveniently access information from home or work, making it simple to request to work a desired shift. Abrazo Health Care is opening BidShift to nurses in addition to nursing support staff to include nursing assistants, technicians, unit clerks, and paramedics.
Currently nursing staff can only see and request to work shifts within their existing hospital, but the health system will use BidShift to broaden shift offerings to qualified staff across all six hospitals, dramatically increasing their ability to fill the shift from within the expanded resource pool. Using a multiphase process, priority access for shifts will be given to staff from within their own hospital prior to going system-wide.
"BidShift's staffing effectiveness technology will help to ensure the coverage needed to deliver the highest continuity of care for Abrazo Health Care patients in a cost efficient way," said Bruce Springer, President and CEO of BidShift, Inc. "We look forward to facilitating anytime access to open shift scheduling, which will help nursing staff across all the system's hospitals spend more time delivering quality care."
