Scottsdale Healthcare Implements Picis LYNX E/Point To Standardize ED Charging

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LYNX Medical Systems, a Picis company, today announced the implementation of its E/Point emergency department (ED) facility charging application at all three Scottsdale Healthcare hospitals. The system-wide implementation of the industry-leading E/Point software is expected to help Scottsdale Healthcare promote appropriate reimbursement through a standardized methodology for charge capture of their 120,000 emergency department visits per year.

"By using E/Point, we hope to better align our ED resource use with services provided throughout our three hospitals," said Nancy Hicks-Arsenault, system ED director, Scottsdale Healthcare. "E/Point is the catalyst to bring potential revenue and compliance together, which will help support our other ED initiatives." A pre-implementation analysis performed by the LYNX team indicated a potential revenue increase of approximately 25 percent by installing E/Point in each of Scottsdale's hospitals emergency departments.

"Based on Scottsdale's initial LYNXmark, a benchmarking tool, it has already increased its score from an average of 78 to 90 after implementation of the E/Point software," stated Mike DeTolla, senior vice president of LYNX Medical Systems. "The LYNXmark is an indicator of how well hospitals account for their resource use with services provided."

E/Point is a software tool that assists in the ED facility charging process. Its acuity-based methodology produces a consistent, compliant facility visit level charge assignment, reflecting patient acuity, services provided and resources used. Additionally, E/Point establishes an audit trail for each charge assigned.
