Respironics Launches ComfortLite 2 Nasal Mask Multiple Cushion Options And Minimal Facial Contact For Increased Patient Comfort

Murrysville, PA - Respironics, Inc. announces the release of the ComfortLite 2 minimal-contact nasal mask that helps improve patient outcomes through new and improved features and enhancements. With its multiple cushion options and minimal contact with the patient's face, the new ComfortLite 2 is proof of Respironics' commitment to providing solutions and upgrades to better the lives of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

"By offering patients multiple cushion options, reducing facial pressure points and adding a host of more durable and comfortable improvements, the new ComfortLite 2 aims to help patients comply with therapy, which, in turn, may also lead to more successful clinical outcomes," says Laurie Scott, U.S. Marketing Manager, Patient Interface, Respironics.

With the ComfortLite 2, patients are able to choose from several cushion options. The new Pillows Cushion offers patients a flexible pillow design that inserts slightly into the nostrils for an instant and robust seal and easy patient set-up. Sizes for the Pillows Cushion include petite, small, medium and large. Patients choosing the more traditional Simple Cushion will find that it rests at the tip of the nose, thus reducing pressure points at the bridge of the nose and the upper lip. The Simple Cushion is available in sizes petite, small, medium and large. And for patients who prefer a "pillows-like" cushion without any insertion into the nostrils, the Direct Seal cushion offers a comfortable seal and fit while resting just outside the nostrils. The Direct Seal comes in sizes one through six.

In addition to the multiple cushion options, the ComfortLite 2 distinguishes itself with a unique headgear design that eliminates facial pressure points. By keeping the straps off of the patient's face, the headgear provides a secure comfortable fit without causing unnecessary facial discomfort. And, the ComfortLite 2 relies on the headgear for stability instead of the nostrils, providing a reliable seal without nostril irritation. This not only increases comfort for patients, but also increases their chances for compliance.

The materials and replacement parts of the ComfortLite 2 have all been upgraded over the original ComfortLite to ensure durability and quality. Improvements include the new "Halo" headgear, which provides a comfortable and stable fit that can be configured three ways. Also, the headgear side straps are now made of soft, flexible fabric for maximum comfort - especially for side-sleepers. In addition, the crown swivel has been moved forward to reduce contact with the patient's bed pillow and is made up of new easy-rotating material.
