Meridian Health is comprised of over 70 locations, employing over 8,100 team members, and has annual system revenue of $965 million.

Meridian Health's system consists of four major hospitals including an academic medical center, two community hospitals, a children's hospital, as well as community-based services that include home nursing and hospice care, rehabilitation and fitness centers, long-term and assisted living facilities, physician practices, ambulatory care and surgery centers, and ambulance and medical transportation services. Meridian has earned a national reputation for clinical and service excellence, including becoming the first health system in the nation to receive the prestigious Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, one of only a handful of health care providers in the nation to receive the highly coveted John M. Eisenberg Award for Patient Safety and Quality and has been repeatedly ranked among the top 100 Most Wired and 25 Most Wireless health care providers in the entire nation. Through this agreement, Meridian will utilize a number of MedAssets' tools from its revenue management and spend management segments. Services include MedAssets' Charge Capture technology which ensures accurate charging before the bill is sent for payment. Meridian is also implementing CDM Master, a best practice tool for chargemaster monitoring and maintenance and compliance. The agreement also includes implementation of MedAssets' comprehensive group purchasing contract portfolio, as well as supply chain technology and services with Strategic Information Services (SI) and a custom purchasing catalog. SI aggregates all supply chain data, whether it is in disparate item files, systems, or formats, thus allowing the maximum opportunity for data transparency.

"MedAssets' tools allow a more transparent view of our data in both the supply chain and revenue cycle, which will ultimately help us to further improve our patients' experience with our facilities," states Thomas Golaszewski, vice president, Resource and Materials Management, Meridian Health, "We look forward to enhancing our capabilities and to a successful relationship with MedAssets."

Rand Ballard, chief operating officer and chief customer officer of MedAssets, states, "Meridian's programs have been recognized as being among the best in the nation, and MedAssets is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to strengthen their health system through our spend and revenue management tools. This new agreement will provide significant financial savings for Meridian and will further contribute to their success."
