Mercy Health Home Care And Hospice By Compassus To Provide Care In Greater Lima Area

The Mercy Health Home Care and Hospice programs serving the greater Lima, Ohio, area, announced a new name today: Mercy Health Home Care and Hospice by Compassus. The name change reflects a joint venture partnership between Bon Secours Mercy Health, the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the U.S., and Compassus, a leading national provider of integrated home-based health care services, finalized earlier this year.

Locations in Lima formerly managed by Mercy Health will be rebranded under the joint venture and managed by Compassus.

While the name is changing, patients and families will continue to receive the same high-quality, compassionate care from the team members they know and trust. The partnership with Compassus allows for an added level of support for patients’ ongoing journeys across the care continuum and beyond the health system walls.

“We’re proud to collaborate with Compassus to continue delivery of high-quality, person-centered home health and hospice care to patients and families,” said Cheryl Bechtel, RN, MSN, CEHCH, executive director at Mercy Health Home Care by Compassus. “With Compassus’ expertise and our reputation for excellence in the greater Lima community, we look forward to furthering our commitment to providing compassionate care at the right time.”

Ohio’s senior population is the fastest-growing age group in the state. The number of adults age 85 and older is expected to increase by nearly 25% by 2050, according to the Ohio Department of Development. With most adults desiring to age in place, the need for home-based care services is projected to grow nationwide. The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reports more than 75,000 patients elected hospice in the state last year.
