MEDHOST Advances Patient Safety And Enterprise Management With New Release Of Its Emergency Department Information System
Addison, TX - MEDHOST, provider of the leading Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), recently announced the release of version 4.1, the most feature-rich and streamlined version of its Emergency Department Information System (EDIS). Designed with patient safety in mind, MEDHOST 4.1 integrates The Sullivan Group's patented and industry-leading Patient Risk and Safety module and First DataBank's OrderView Med Knowledge Base. With the addition of powerful decision support functionality, point-of-care risk alerts and CPOE-ready drug content that allows physicians to quickly, yet accurately order medication, MEDHOST 4.1 furthers patient safety initiatives by reducing risk and adverse drug events.
In response to Integrated Delivery Networks' (IDN) need to manage multiple facilities, enhanced Enterprise Management features are offered in version 4.1, providing IDNs tools to support mass updates and access to patient information documented in MEDHOST across the enterprise. This free flow of information includes obtaining a patient's clinical history directly from either the hospital information system (HIS) or the MEDHOST EDIS, as well as home medication reconciliation so at each transition of care, clinicians can see what medications a patient takes – all steps that enhance clinical decisions and patient outcomes.
"MEDHOST provides an easy to use, yet powerful EDIS that clinicians actually use, and it's because of MEDHOST's extremely high adoption rate that ED operations are streamlined and patient care and safety improves," said Craig Herrod, president and CEO of MEDHOST. "We worked diligently to incorporate Customer requests, as well as the capabilities that The Sullivan Group's comprehensive risk management content and First DataBank's robust drug database offer into this new release so Customers recognize an even greater impact from MEDHOST within the ED and across their enterprise. Version 4.1 offers more point-of-care functionality with real-time, seamless decision support and risk alerts designed to assist clinicians and revolutionize risk management in the hectic ED."
Additional features now available in MEDHOST 4.1 include:
- Streamlined registration process
- Device integration, such as vital sign monitors
- Imbedded voice recognition
- Pharmacy medication validation
- Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) documentation and reporting
MEDHOST currently serves more than 130 facilities, including Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, the Lifespan Health System of Rhode Island, and the Baylor Health Care System in Texas.
