LogMeIn Rescue Customer Palm Valley Health Care Honored As 'Unsung Hero Of Mobility' By Mobile Enterprise Magazine
Home Healthcare Company Recognized for Its Innovative Use of Remote Support to Enable Mobile Healthcare
Woburn, MA(GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Palm Valley Health Care has been recognized by Mobile Enterprise Magazine for its innovative use of the LogMeIn Rescue remote support solution to enable home healthcare delivery through its mobile electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Palm Valley received an Honorable Mention in the IT Management of Mobile Devices category in the 2009 Mobilizer Award. Now in its eighth year, the Mobilizer Awards are presented to enterprises that have successfully deployed mobile solutions and are selected based on ease of deployment, innovation and business improvement.
Headquartered in Edinburg, Texas, Palm Valley Health Care provides a wide range of care and services to homebound patients throughout South Texas. As one of the first healthcare providers in its region to implement a "paperless" electronic medical records (EMR) system, Palm Valley armed its field nurses with remote access to the EMR system via wireless pocket PCs. The company's primary goal was the provision of better patient care due to the nurse's ability to stay connected and productive in the field.
To ensure the efficiency of it EMR program, Palm Valley deployed remote support solution LogMeIn Rescue to enable the IT staff to remotely troubleshoot and resolve software issues - including EMR shutdowns, file corruption, storage card maintenance, connection problems and database rebuilds - to minimize software-related disruption of the nurses' PDA devices and reduce the time IT administrators spent helping non-technical users.
Highlights of the award-winning ROI according to Palm Valley Health Care:
- Palm Valley Health Care's nurses now spend 85 percent more time with patients due to less time troubleshooting and worrying about PDA issues;
- The IT team's call volume has been reduced by 75 percent, due to improved user training; and
- Call handle time has been shortened by over 50 percent by replacing cumbersome over-the-phone support with direct remote access to the troubled device.
"Providing support with LogMeIn Rescue allows us to control remote devices with little end-user interaction involved," said Nathan Armstrong, IT Administrator, Palm Valley Health Care. "We're honored to be recognized by Mobile Enterprise and continue to be thrilled to give our nurses the freedom to do what they do best: Care for patients."
"Palm Valley Health Care is a prime example of a provider that is leveraging technology as the means to increase performance and capabilities," said Richard Redding, vice president and General Manager, Mobile, LogMeIn. "By arming its 200 field nurses with wireless devices, the company has proven that the combination of mobile devices and remote support technology raises the bar on quality of care, while lowering operational costs."
"Enterprises large and small have been grappling with serious economic issues that have had an effect on all aspects of the workplace," says Mobile Enterprise Editor-In-Chief Susan Nunziata. "In light of these challenges, we are particularly inspired by the worthy assortment of deployments submitted for consideration in our 2009 Mobilizer Awards. We thank Palm Valley Health Care for giving us the opportunity to be inspired by their mobility success story, and we wish them continued good fortune."
The Mobilizer winners were announced at an awards ceremony November 6 during the Mobile Enterprise Executive Summit at the Four Seasons Westlake Resort in Westlake, CA, November 4-6, 2009.
