LEAP Training Continues At Greenspring: Seventy-Two Staff Members Successfully Complete Trendsetting Program To Become Role-Models For Person-Centered Care
Springfield, VA - Renaissance Gardens at Greenspring, the nation's premier provider of assisted living and skilled nursing care, has successfully trained seventy-two staff members in an industry-leading program called LEAP – a comprehensive development program that teaches best practices for managers and frontline employees working in a long-term care environment.
LEAP, which stands for Learn, Empower, Achieve, Produce, is a culture changing workforce model focusing on the relationships between nursing staff and residents. LEAP shifts the model of nursing care from a task-oriented medical environment, to one that emphasizes the essential roles of a care-giver, which includes the need to see himself or herself as a role model, a leader, and a team builder.
"It's a great honor to be able to offer LEAP at Greenspring and I'm proud of our staff that has committed their time, and themselves, to this program," said Ben Cornthwaite, Administrator of Renaissance Gardens at Greenspring. "Person-centered care is the future of long-term care and it's clear that the success we have achieved in this program shows our dedication and commitment to offer our residents the best care possible."
The training program was developed by Mather LifeWays, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to identifying, implementing, and sharing the best practices for wellness, workforce issues, memory care programs, and caregiver empowerment. The training effort, while started with staff from assisted living and nursing care residence at Renaissance Gardens at Greenspring, will soon be expanded to other employees working throughout Greenspring in the coming years.
