DADC Push Twist Control

Source: Driving Aids Development Corporation
The sturdy DADC'500' lever provides continued support to the driver, which promotes control and safety.
The DADC'500' hand controls come in three models: Push/Twist (twist for gas, push for brakes), Push/Pull (pull for gas, push for brakes), and Brake Only. Benefits of DADC hand controls include the following:

  • The throttle control is power assisted. Vacuum provides the assist (just like power brakes) to a cable connecting the hand control to the engine throttle body. End result: applying the accelerator is fingertip easy!

  • The sturdy DADC‘500' lever provides continued support to the driver, which promotes control and safety. Unlike many lever actuated hand controls in which the throttle is controlled by moving a lever up and down, the DADC'500' push/twist lever remains stationary. The driver can actually lean his/her hand on the control for balance and stability, and comfortably hook a thumb over the steering wheel to aid steering at the same time. This promotes steady throttle control even if the driver's arm bumps, sways, leans, or lurches while going through curves, over bumps, or through emergency maneuvers. This is safer than the other types of hand controls, where movement of the driver's arm could cause the throttle to surge at times when it needs to be the steadiest.

  • Under normal driving conditions, the power assist combined with the sturdy lever support allows the driver to simply rest his/her hand on the lever while controlling the accelerator. Therefore, the driver's arm does not tire, enabling him/her to sustain longer drives comfortably.

The DADC500 push/twist hand control is a good choice if a large driver, a small car, or both limit space. Economical use of space is achieved because the lever only needs to be moved to apply the brake. Throttle control is achieved by twisting the grip in the same manner as operating a motorcycle.

Push/twist controls provide a precise, sporty feel. With this fine quality power-assisted twist control, very little effort is required to hold a throttle setting. Simply resting the hand on the handle provides enough force to hold a throttle setting. The result is to eliminate fatigue on a long drive.

An added benefit of the push /twist is that the brake and gasd can be applied at the same time. This is desirable if the car is stopped on a steep hill at a red light or at a parking space. The gas can be applied a little before releasing the brake so that the car will not coast before moving, thus preventing unwanted run-ins with walls, parking meters, or other cars.
