Concerto's Expansion Arrives In Michigan, Partnering With Villa Healthcare

Leading nursing home dialysis provider brings dialysis options for Michiganders

Taylor, MI (PRWEB) - Concerto Renal Services – the nation’s leading provider of home dialysis in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) – has expanded to Michigan and is now servicing dialysis patients in the Great Lakes State.

Earning certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), Concerto now operates 7 states nationally. Started in 2015, Concerto operated in only Illinois where it is headquartered until it expanded to Maryland in mid-2019. Since that initial expansion to the East Coast, its presence has blanketed the Midwest and just recently began operations in the South, as well. “Our national growth has not been by accident,” according to Concerto’s CEO, Shimmy Meystel. Said Meystel, “The patient and operator community recognize the advantages of onsite dialysis, fueling our growth.” What had been seen as a luxury is now an obvious imperative, added Meystel, citing the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

Concerto’s continued explosion is a harbinger of relief for nursing home dialysis patients, who can now receive services in the comfort of their home facility instead of facing avoidable health risk and inconvenient transportation three-time-weekly to outpatient clinics. Multiple studies (footnote #1) and experts (footnote #2) have cited dialysis patients transporting to and from nursing homes as a major contributors to the transmission and spread of the deadly virus.

Concerto’s expansion into Michigan also strengthens its relationship with Villa Healthcare, a consultant to 34 SNFs in five Midwest states (footnote #3). Villa and Concerto work together at several facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin, and now collaborate at Villa’s Regency facility in Taylor, Michigan, just outside Detroit. “Our partnership with Concerto is an example of our resident-first approach," shared Villa Chief Nursing Officer, Michelle Scherwinski. “We recognize that transporting our residents multiple times weekly to an outpatient clinic is simply not in their or our best interest.” Scherwinski noted. She added, “We pride ourselves on pushing the boundaries of our industry’s standards and offering more than what is expected – onsite dialysis is but one example.”

Concerto understands a significant need for its services in Michigan’s metropolitan Detroit, a densely populated and ethnically diverse region. While chronic kidney disease and the need for dialysis impacts all segments of society, it disproportionately impacts Black and Hispanic Americans. “We take the honor of caring for Michigan SNF dialysis patients seriously and are thrilled to begin an exciting new chapter in Concerto’s history,” concluded Meystel.
