Clarian's Dave Hanson Selected To Lead National Nursing Organization

Hanson will serve as AACN's President-Elect in July

Indianapolis - Dave Hanson, a clinical nurse specialist at Clarian Health Partners' Methodist Hospital, has been named president-elect of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).

Hanson will assume his new role with the largest specialty nursing organization in the world in July 2006 and become president in July 2007.

"AACN has been my partner, my professional colleague and an oasis from work," said Hanson, who was on the organization's board of directors from 2001 to 2004. "I strongly support the organization and to be able to give back and volunteer my time is great. It's going to be hard work, but it's a labor of love."

Although the AACN position is an important personal achievement, Hanson says it's a valuable professional accomplishment that is shared by all Clarian staff.

"I'm representing 400,000 AACN members, but it makes me especially proud to represent the best of those – the Clarian employees," he said.

In his new position, Hanson hopes to help nurses understand the value of AACN as a partner and to help organizations across the country establish healthy work environments for both employees and patients.
