CarePendant: Two-way hands-free voice communication
CarePendant provides peace of mind for people living alone that might experience a fall, stroke, heart attack or some other medical emergency while at home. The CarePendant can be worn as either a necklace "pendant" or a wrist unit. It weighs less than 1/2 ounce. Wearing the tiny pendant or wrist unit allows a subscriber at home to push a button on the CarePendant and establish 2-way hands free communication with an Attendant in the 24 hour CareLink Support Center from virtually anywhere in their home. The Attendant can talk with the subscriber to determine what assistance they desire (from pre-determined lists) and dispatch it immediately.
CarePendant installation includes a small white box, called a "Server" that plugs into the subscribers phone line and household power. The Server may also include an optional strobe light and/or speaker. The Server establishes communication with the Support Center and contains both a speaker and microphone.
