Barton Positioning and Transfer System (PTS)
The Barton Positioning and Transfer System (PTS) greatly reduces the risk of injury to both patient and caregiver by providing a safe and comfortable transfer. The Barton Positioning and Transfer System (PTS) - The Barton PTSBMC tested The Barton PTS in a one-year clinical evaluation in a leading Pennsylvania hospital, which proved the many benefits derived from the use of the product. Phase I of this clinical test was implemented in Austin in 1996, and was undertaken to facilitate the completion of the design, usage protocols, training and the maintenance and management of The Barton PTS. Phase II, initiated in January of 1997, expanded the scope of the trial so as to provide more specific comparisons of The Barton PTS's use versus conventional patient transfer methods. Included within the scope of Phase II was a rigorous examination of the number of people and the time required to effect a transfer, patient comfort and safety, staff safety and convenience, scheduling flexibility and ease of use under a wide range of hospital conditions.
