Axxess Home Health Software Meets CMS Requirement On Advanced Directives Information

A Statement from Andrew Olowu, Axxess Chief Technology Officer:

Dallas, TX /PRNewswire/ - Since many home healthcare agencies are struggling to comply with the advanced directives information requirement for Medicare and Medicaid payment as part of the Home Health Conditions of Participation begun in January 2018, Axxess wants to reiterate that its clients are already compliant.

To help clients meet this new standard for payment, Axxess AgencyCore software requires that agency representatives answer patient information related to the advanced directives when documenting care.

Many of the home healthcare agencies not using Axxess software are not compliant with the current Conditions of Participation, according to a recent audit as part of CMS' Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT). At the same time, MAC audits have approved claims that involve Plans of Care that do not include full information on a patient's advanced directives. A compliant Plan of Care for payment purposes must now include "information related to any advanced directives."

Axxess is the proud leader in home healthcare technology innovation, and maintains compliance with CMS requirements for its clients. Throughout the fall, Axxess introduced changes to OASIS-D to enable clients to be ready ahead of the January 2019 implementation deadline, and its representatives are already sharing insights and best practices for agencies to best handle new Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) requirements that are expected to go into effect in January 2020.
