Accidental Needlestick Control

Accidental Needlestick Control
The Needlestick Incident Control System (NICSX) is a web-based solution designed to assist organizations in complying with the 1999 Federal Bloodborne Pathogens Directive
The Needlestick Incident Control System (NICSX) is a web-based solution designed to assist organizations in complying with the 1999 Federal Bloodborne Pathogens Directive from OSHA, which requires healthcare organizations to implement exposure control programs at all workplaces where there is potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. This system is a comprehensive approach that provides organizations with the necessary tools to comply with the new directive. It also provides an opportunity to minimize an organization's risk in respect to accidental needlesticks. The system contains the information and documentation needed to build a complete compliance program, including: a new exposure control plan, incident reports and incident logs, engineered control guidelines, evaluation forms, protocols, employee training and certification, and automatic updates of new federal and state regulations.

The system's site will create a unique username and password for multiple individuals within a hospital or medical facility. It will allow the users to complete the Model Needlestick Exposure Control Plan, the Uniform Needlestick and Sharp Object Injury Report, and the Key Safety Behaviors Data Sheet and then store the data by medical facility and user. This then allows the users within a medical facility the ability to generate a Needlestick Incident Report Log for their specific facility. Because the system is web-based, it can be accessed from any computer that has an Internet connection. It is available twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
