Unity Custom Care Debuts Novel Service For Pre-And Post-Op Patient Care

Unity Custom Care Inc. recently debuted a novel service for pre- and post-op patient care that positions the company as a leader in perioperative care services.

Unity Custom Care’s service is offered directly to surgical practices and hospitals. Once a surgeon enrolls their patient, Unity dedicates a single Care Advisor RN to that patient, contacting him or her before surgery to build a personal relationship and prepare the patient for at-home recovery. After discharge, their Care Advisor contacts the patient daily by phone, text and email for up to two weeks with 24-hour support. Unity Care Advisors are sharply focused on helping patients to follow their surgeon’s aftercare instructions while also providing compassion and assistance with typical issues such as nutrition, pain management and body positioning.

In addition to daily human interaction with their Care Advisor, Unity also provides instructional videos tailored to each procedure, to help patients care for themselves during the acute phase of their recoveries. “Our service is much more than a software-based recovery support tool. Unity provides the optimal balance of human interaction and digital education,” Snyder explains.

Importantly, surgeons and their staffs also have access to daily patient status reporting via a secure physician portal. Through their portal, surgeons can monitor the patient’s mood, compliance and pain levels, and review the Care Advisor’s encounter notes. Of particular interest to surgeons and hospitals, practices which have incorporated Unity’s service report that it virtually eliminates unplanned post-op patient calls and office visits.

The company debuted their service in 2016 in greater Los Angeles, focusing initially on elective plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. The company is now targeting other fields of practice such as orthopedics, general surgery, cardiac surgery and bariatric surgery.
