Gentiva considers sale of staffing business

August 2, 2000

In response to recent inquiries from potential buyers, Gentiva Health Services (Melville, New York) is in discussions with a number of parties regarding the possible sale of its health care staffing business. "While we are not totally committed to selling, we feel like we have a duty to our shareholders to explore this option," explained Michael Johns, Gentiva's vice president of Communications.

Gentiva has retained UBS Warburg as financial advisor regarding the possible sale. The company's health care staffing business represents approximately eight percent of the company's revenues.

While he couldn't comment on the status of the sale, Johns told Home Health Provider that Gentiva hopes for expeditious progress on the matter. One section of the staffing business, Clinical Business Solutions, is not up for sale, he noted.
